Earth Day celebrators think they are “following the science.”
Here’s what they assume:
- They assume natural CO2 is still at its 1750 level of 280 ppm.
- They assume human CO2 causes all the increase above 280 ppm.
- They assume human CO2 stays in the air longer than natural CO2.
- They assume the CO2 level controls global temperature.
- They assume an increase in global temperature causes bad stuff to happen.
- They assume the existence of changes in weather and climate that they call bad proves their assumptions (1) through (5) are true.
- They assume climate model predictions are facts.
- They assume “evidence” proves their assumptions are true.
- They assume good predictions prove their assumptions are true.
Here’s what Aristotle said 2400 years ago:
- We must check our assumptions by using their predictions.
- Good predictions do not prove an assumption is true.
- It is impossible to prove an assumption is true because the next test may prove it is false.
- However, one bad prediction proves the assumption is false. This is the key to science.
Aristotle said, if we do not follow these rules, we are not doing science.
This is the scientific method. Few people understand it.
Some people think the scientific method is just being honest or checking our data carefully. They are wrong.
Earth Day celebrators refuse to check their assumptions.
If they did, they would find that all nine of their assumptions listed above are false.
Science must follow the scientific method. If it does not, then it is not science.
I’m a geologist and understand about our earth and its climate changes through millennia. I could not agree with you more. Real scientists should be speaking up more to counter these 2 legs bad 4 legs good climate change “believers”
Data shows there were actually more land falling hurricanes in the 1940 than any decade since. Why do alarmists refuse to acknowledge this?
Thanks Ed! Climate change is an agenda used by plutocrats to enslave humanity – your exposing this mass delusion is inspiring and helpful!
Actually the so-called “renewables” are doing far more to destroy the environment than to save it. How can they believe they are environmentalists?
After 20ppm of CO2 in our atmoshere any heating declined on a log basis. More CO2 has a negligible effect on climate at current levels, ergo reducing to Net Zero can have little effect as it never caused any problems.
They assume that CO2 is cumulating in the atmosphere.
However it is very good soluble in water.
The specific surface area of the vapor that condenses into the cloud is huge, so the dissolution is effective.
Therefore, pure rain has a pH of 5.6.
The water content in the atmosphere is swapping every 10 days.
This is why the CO2 concentration is so small.
Dear Dr. Troth,
Wow! Thank you very much for your insight. That cloud droplets absorb CO2 is a very significant point.
You are correct that this path of absorbing CO2 must be very large.
Here I am, the guy who was first to calculate how small cloud droplets become rain through collision and coalescence, and I never thought about the effect you just presented.
So far as I know, the IPCC and all other publications have assumed the transfer of CO2 from the air was by contact with the land or ocean surface. But as you point out, the surface area of cloud droplets over the ocean and land must be much larger than the surface area of the land and ocean.
A first estimate of this droplet surface area can be made by using total rainfall per day or year and assuming all this rain or snow began with cloud droplets of 10 to 20 microns in diameter. I won’t attempt this calculation here, but it is obvious that the total initial droplet surface area must be many times the area of the land and oceans.
If you have more information on this subject, please tell us.
Sincerely,
Ed
Dear Ed!
pH – https://nimbus.elte.hu/oktatasi_anyagok/levegokemia/13_Csapadekkemia.pdf – air chemistry – precipitation chemistry
15. dia
CO2 is omnipresent in the around pH 5.6 precipitation is “neutral” for the atmosphere. Nature has adapted to this. (Chemically slightly acidic-natural acidity.)
7. dia
– the movement of gas molecules towards solution droplets is controlled by molecular diffusion in the same way as that of water molecules > dissolution of soluble gases occurs together with condensation
– dissolution lasts until the concentration in the solution is in equilibrium with the atmospheric partial pressure of the substance – dissolution is rapid > practically constant (dynamic) equilibrium
– the source of the trace gases is usually on the surface > usually the concentration increases downwards >>> dissolution into the falling drop continues, a significant amount of material escapes

Water in the atmosphere
https://doi.org/10.31852/EMF.32.2020.081.104
p. 8. (88) bottom paragraph
The Earth receives 1.44*10e12 ton of precipitation per day, which means that the water in the atmosphere is replaced practically every 10 days (Figure 6).
In the climate research literature, only the surface of the ocean is discussed in CO2 exchange between the oceans and the atmosphere. A lot of carbon dioxide gets into the sea through the rain.
