Government-promoted drugs, not guns, kill people

by Dr. Ed Berry

EXB150You want to stop the insane school shootings and other crazy killings around the world? Then get people, especially kids, off government-promoted medications.

The Democrats want to control you. Their two most popular ways to control you are based upon myths.

Their first big myth is your gun causes irrational gun deaths, especially the mass killings in our schools. Since you are guilty, their reasoning goes, you must turn over your guns to the government agents who have guns. Only very stupid people fall for this government (mostly Democratic) charade.

The second big myth, of course, is your use of carbon fuels causes all kinds of climate change problems. Since you are guilty, their reasoning goes, you and your nation must reduce your use of carbon fuels and pay an “Al Gore” tax on the carbon fuel you use. Only very stupid people fall for this government (mostly Democratic) charade.

Let’s focus on the first big myth. Data clearly show gun confiscation, if effective, increases crime. Yet, the irrational Democrats use every tragedy as an excuse to confiscate your guns. Meanwhile, the government (mostly irrational Democrats) continue to support the senseless pumping of drugs into innocent kids who simply want to grow up.

The first step to stop these highly-publicized shootings is not to confiscate guns but to remove all kids from medication for ADD and ADHD. Medication in America is out of control. Kids do not need medication to alter their behavior. The medications forced on kids can alter them for life. And many ADD and ADHD problems can be solved by reducing sugar from one’s diet, especially the high fructose corn syrup that is added to almost all soft drinks.

For hard data, an excellent site to learn about the relationship between medications and irrational killings is SSRI Stories.

The SSRI website focuses on the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs), of which Prozac (fluoxetine) was the first.  Other SSRIs are Zoloft (sertraline), Paxil (paroxetine) (known in the UK as Seroxat), Celexa (citalopam),  Lexapro (escitalopram), and Luvox (fluvoxamine).  Other newer antidepressants included in this list are Remeron (mirtazapine), Anafranil (clomipramine) and the SNRIs Effexor (venlafaxine), Cymbalta (duloxetine) and Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) as well as the dopamine reuptake inhibitor antidepressant Wellbutrin (bupropion) (also marketed as Zyban).

Visit SSRI Stories to review their collection of 4,800+ news stories with links to the full media articles. SSRI writes:

“Even these 4,800+ documented stories only represent the tip of an iceberg since most stories do not make it into the media. There are 115 cases of bizarre behavior, 66 school shootings/incidents, 68 road rage tragedies, 19 air rage incidents, 101 arson cases, 70 postpartum depression cases, over 1,000 murders (homicides) or murder attempts, over 300 murder-suicides (30% committed by women) and other acts of violence including workplace violence on this site.”

SSRI notes these drugs are known to cause the following adverse reactions:

  • Manic Reaction (Mania, e.g., Kleptomania, Pyromania, Dipsomania, Nymphomania)
  • Hypomania (e.g., poor judgment, over spending, impulsivity, etc.)
