Good vertical axis turbine

The first qr5 turbine was installed in Dagenham, a suburb of London, in March 2007. At the end of 2008, over 70 turbines had been installed throughout the United Kingdom, where each unit generates between 4000 and 10000 kilowatt-hours per year, according to the company.

  1. 70 turbines averaging 7,000 kWh per year. That's 490,000 kWh. Or 1342 kWh per day.

OFGEM give median figures for domestic consumption, which are misleading. Enerdata estimate 4648 kWh per day for the UK.

So 70 turbines supply 105 households or 1.5 households per turbine.

Is it any wonder the turbines need huge subsidies? Which household in Dagenham can afford two-thirds of one of these monsters?
