Feynman: The Key to Science (1964)

“Now I’m going to discuss how we would look for a new law. In general, we look for a new law by the following process.

“First, we guess it (audience laughter), no, don’t laugh, that’s the truth. Then we compute the consequences of the guess, to see if this law we guess is right, to see what it would imply.

“Then we compare the computation results to nature, or we say compare to experiment or experience, compare it directly with observations to see if it works.

If it disagrees with experiment, it’s WRONG. In that simple statement is the key to science.

“It doesn’t make any difference how beautiful your guess is, it doesn’t matter how smart you are, or who made the guess, or what his name is…

“If it disagrees with experiment, it’s WRONG. That’s all there is to it.”

Climate models disagree with experiment, therefore they are wrong. Therefore, the hypothesis that our CO2 emissions cause significant global warming is wrong.

  2. David, I am surprised you are not even aware how climate models disagree with data. You must not read much about climate science.

    Here are two charts that compare climate model predictions with real world data. Both charts make it clear that climate models way over-predict future temperatures.

    1. David, You are truly a science denier. Since when does it take a peer-reviewed publication to show that a data plot is correct when any good high-school student can download the data and duplicate the plot?

      John Christy's charts are plots of readily available data. Christy presented his data plots in his written testimony to the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space & Technology, on 2 Feb 2016. Some blogs that discussed his testimony are here and here.

      If you were a true scientist, you would read his whole testimony. Why don't you download the data yourself and plot it? Answer: Because you are incompetent.

      Which reminds me, you have not told our readers where they can find your PhD thesis publication. Where did you get your PhD? Mail order? Who were your thesis advisers?
