President Obama’s Climate Initiative—The Bad News and Good News

by Steve Goreham, The Washington Times

In his speech at Georgetown University on Tuesday, President Obama announced,

“So today…I’m directing the Environmental Protection Agency to put an end to the limitless dumping of carbon pollution from our power plants and complete new pollution standards for both new and existing power plants.”

This is the first proposal in the President’s new climate initiative. The President also called for expanded efforts to use “clean energy” and for the US to lead the world in bold actions to “combat climate change.”

For the last decade, an obsession with global warming has dominated a wide array of US government policies. Climatism, the belief that man-made greenhouse gases are destroying Earth’s climate, skews federal automobile, transportation, energy, and infrastructure policies. Billions are spent in the ongoing effort to fight climate change. [Read more…]

President’s Climate Plan Undemocratic, Authoritarian, Disingenuous

by Competitive Enterprise Institute

CEI Analysts See Effort To Avoid Congress Because Ideas Are Unpopular

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 25, 2013 – President Obama’s climate agenda released today is being done without public or congressional support and is being pursued in this way because he knows the peoples’ elected representatives would never approve these plans, say experts at the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

“Obama’s all-pain, no-gain agenda will cost jobs, drive up prices and have little effect on global emissions,”

said Myron Ebell, director of CEI’s Center for Energy and Environment. [Read more…]

Cheap energy: a human right for the public good

by Marita Noon

A few months ago, in his State of the Union address, President Obama proudly pledged to tackle climate change—despite opposition from Republicans. To date, precious little action to combat climate change has been seen from the White House—which pleases most Republicans and angers the left.

Environmental activists are some of Obama’s most ardent supporters, but they are frustrated and losing patience with the president. He hasn’t been definitive on killing the Keystone pipeline; as the Washington Post reports, he’s “fallen back from the broad clean energy agenda he envisioned when he first took office”—even to the point of supporting natural gas exploration and recently approving Liquefied Natural Gas export terminals that will increase demand by shipping US natural gas to foreign markets; and he seems to have acquiesced to a fossil-fuel future by proposing adaptations to make “coastal communities more resistant to increasingly severe storms and floods.”

The environmental community wants to see bold steps toward a fossil-fuel free future.

Michael Brune, executive director for the Sierra Club, groused: “On climate, we’re worse off than we were when the president’s second term started.”  [Read more…]

Barack Obama: The Ghost Of Columbia, Part II – Professor never heard of Obama

by Wayne Allyn Root, RootForAmerica, June 8, 2013

My life has crossed paths with President Obama on multiple occasions. According to Obama, we were Columbia University classmates, both Pre Law and Political Science majors in the Class of ’83. I also ran against Obama in 2008 on the Libertarian Party Presidential ticket. What are the odds?

But something about “the Obama at Columbia story” has always bothered me. Earlier in the week right here at The Blaze I wrote about having just returned from New York, where I attended my 30th Columbia University reunion. I celebrated with my esteemed classmates. Everyone except Barack Obama. As usual- he wasn’t there. Not a trace. Not a video greeting. Not a letter. I could not find any classmates who knew him.

I called Obama “the Ghost of Columbia University.” [Read more…]

MEIC is occupied by Left-Wing Lunatics

by Dr. Ed Berry

The Montana Environmental Information Center (MEIC) began in with the 1972 Montana revised Constitution. Sometimes I think Montana’s 1972 revised constitution was an underground liberal takeover of Montana.

“The Montana Environmental Information Center is a nonprofit public benefit corporation incorporated in 1974 under the laws of the State of Montana. MEIC is exempt from federal income taxation because it is the type of organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Most donations to MEIC are deductible as charitable contributions under Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.”

MEIC is now celebrating its 40th anniversary, thanks to the mindless conservatives who will not elect a governor who will restaff MEIC with right-thinking conservatives. In its 40-year reign over Montana, the extreme liberal MEIC staff has extended its original constitutional mission -to maintain a clean and healthful environment for all Montanans – into supporting the fundamental religion of the eco extremists.

MEIC is not an unbiased, helpful state organization. It is a communist environmental front. MEIC’s  Legislative Newsletters support the extreme liberal Democratic agenda. A quick review of MEIC’s position on key bills in the 2013 Montana Legislature shows MEIC supports every Democratic bill and opposes every Republican bill.

MEIC has become a political tool for the Democratic agenda in Montana … supported by your tax dollars.

What Can the People Do To Restore Liberty, Part 3 (Political Pressure)

by Tim Baldwin, Liberty Defense League

TimBaldwinA200The matter addressed here is the use of political pressure (i.e. parties) to help restore liberty.

What is the source of political parties?

As much as some citizens may disdain “party politics”, parties originate from human nature. James Madison described our nature to form political parties this way,

The latent causes of faction are thus sown in the nature of man; and we see them everywhere… A zeal for different opinions concerning…government…have, in turn, divided mankind into parties… So strong is this propensity of mankind to fall into mutual animosities, that where no substantial occasion presents itself, the most frivolous and fanciful distinctions have been sufficient to kindle their unfriendly passions and excite their most violent conflicts. Federalist Paper (FP)10.

Added to human nature, history shows that there is not a notable political event that did not involve parties accomplishing the political end, but in America this is especially true. Parties are what create political pressure for substantive change. This raises the next question. [Read more…]

Is it a failure to communicate, or faulty climate science?

by Steve Goreham, The Washington Times

Earlier this month, a New York Times article by Andy Revkin voiced concern over a gap between “the consensus” of climate scientists and public acceptance of the theory of human-caused global warming. Revkin pointed to a study published in April by Dr. John Cook and other researchers, which claimed that 97 percent of scientific papers over the last decade “endorsed the consensus” of man-made warming.

But is it a failure to communicate the science to the public, or a case of bad science?

A 2010 paper from the Center for Climate Change Communication at George Mason University recommended that advocates for activist climate policies emphasize the dangers to the health of citizens:

“Successfully re-framing the climate debate in the United States from one based on environmental values to one based on health values…holds great promise to help American society better understand and appreciate the risks of climate change…”

So, if Americans fear for their health, then they’ll more readily accept that humans are causing dangerous climate change?

Climate science has smelled for some time. [Read more…]

What Can the People Do To Restore Liberty, Part 2 (Voting)

by Tim Baldwin, Liberty Defense League

TimBaldwinA200The matter addressed here is that of voting for public officials whose office is obtained through suffrage. If one is to discover sound conclusions regarding how to vote, he must discover the ethics of voting and prudently apply the maxims. I will attempt to explain some of the key issues of ethical voting and show why conservatives must ally to defend the common cause of republican ideas.

Do I have a duty to vote?

Yes, and the answer may appear obvious (in an imperfect sense, meaning, law cannot force it), but it forms the premise for the other rules of ethics following. The ethical duty to vote exists because the right exists. [Read more…]

Rowing a Concept 2 Rower

Now for indoor rowing, which I find is the best fitness exercise for busy people (like me) who have no time to hang out in a gym.

I now hold two Concept 2 world records:

Check here to see Concept 2 latest Rankings.

February 16, 2018: I lowered my above World Record for 100 meters from 0:18.5 to 0:18.4.

February 16, 2018: I increased my above World Record for 1 minute from 308 to 309 meters.

For 500 meters (the most challenging race):

  • June 21, 2017: I lowered my PR from 1:46.4 to 1:46.1
  • August 9, 2017: I lowered my PR to 1:45.4
  • November 12, 2017: I lowered my PR to 1:43.8
  • March 21, 2018: I lowered my PR to 1:41.5

I am now only 0.4 seconds behind the lightweight world record set by Dean Smith in 2008, and 0.9 seconds behind the heavyweight world record set by Marinus Boon in 2009.

How do I get faster as I get older?

The common view is people fall apart when they are 80 years old. I am proving you can improve your fitness after you are 80 years old.

I do rowing workouts for about 30 minutes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.

My secret is how I workout, my simple diet, and healthy supplements that you can purchase. I take no steroids or other unhealthy drugs.

If you want to learn my secret, go to my (still under construction) rowtribe.com and sign up on my email list. I will send you an email when my rowtribe.com is ready.
